Our NCH friends — Mike and Sofia — referred us to Friends of San Onofre for information regarding Trail 6 Beach. From what we understand, the park rangers were set to issue citations starting, or right after, this Labour Day week-end. However, according to the FoSO website, Judge Shelia Fell has issued her final ruling on the Petition for Writ of Mandamus which affirms the fact that nudity is legal at San Onofre Trail 6 Beach unless a complaint is received.

The tug-o-war over San Onofre Trail № 6 Beach has been on-going for decades. Each new Camp Pendleton commandant has his/her agenda in regards to the “national threat” posed by its nudist neighbours. Do not be surprised when this issue comes again; in the mean time, enjoy one of Southern California’s most beautiful NUDE beaches.

I take issue with blaming the Marines at Camp Pendleton for the problems started by some of our gay friends at the trail 6 nude beach. The issue was reported to the Saate Park Rangers who were required to act. They did, and the incidents ramped up to the point that a judge tried to reverse policy allowing nude beach goers to enjoy the area. As of now the court has changed directions and decided not to close the southern end of the beach to nudists.
Now as someone who has enjoyed the beach entering it from Camp Pendleton when I was still on active duty in the Marine Corps, and through the gate at the northern end of the State Park, I can't see how we could ever believe the Base Commander has anything to do with State Park users.

I'm sure everyone knows by now that this information has changed and not for the good. The CA State Supreme Court refused to hear NAC's and the CA Dept. of Parks and Rec's arguements on this case so it fell back to the Appeals Court decision and nude use at San Onofre Beach, Trail 6, has been lost.

If you do go there, and are nude, you risk being cited. Park Supt. stated that they plan NO sweeps but says....periodic sweeps may take place. They also state that they may or may not ask for compliance first before citing.

That's all we've had, in the last few decades, was "unofficial" nude beaches. We've never had any "official" or "legal" nude beaches in So. Cal.

Even after the last court ruling, the Appellate Court's ruling, and the CA Supreme Court deciding NOT to hear either side's arguments...San Onofre Beach, Trail 6, was lost to nude use.

Nudists have still been visiting the beach and not been cited. According to the District Supervisor for the CA Parks and Rec Dept., Citations will be given out but they have not stated when they will begin. It sounds like it could be any day or...when they decide to get a wild hair up their..... and then they'll go down to the beach and start.

Blacks is still safe...or I should say, they (rangers) are not threatening any action on that beach in the near future.

So...there are no "official" nude beaches in So. Cal.

I was at san onofre today and the weather was absolutely amazing today. No sign of rangers and today I talked to people who frequent sano more than I do and all I heard so far is that they have issued a couple of warnings.

Question...
Did you see many nude people on "our" section of beach when you were there? My thought was that many will now go south of the fence line and deal with the Marines...instead of dealing with the rangers. Did you see that?
