 Bravo for the NY legislature for legalizing gay marriage. This is truly a re-affirmation of the democratic process at work.

There are many examples of conservative Democrats, but until tonight I would have been hard pressed to identify any liberal Republicans. That has changed. Everyone who values civil liberties owe Republican State Senators Stephen Saland and Mark Grisanti a huge thanks for, in their own words, doing what is right. Thank you Senators!

Unfortunately, we can offer no such thanks for President Obama, who seems content to urge others to support gay rights yet cannot himself take any meaningful action on the matter nor even find the courage to articulate his own support. President Obama's refusal to take a stand is a national disgrace.
