OBAMANISM: HOAX AND CHAINS Redux
| Well, at least conservatives got the hoax part right. Anyone who would believe such an obviously fabricated story as the professor that failed an entire economics class will believe in any nonsense. It would be nice if the debate had some semblance of intelligence to it. | |
| That's the problem here: lack of intelligent debate. Conservatives don't use facts in their arguments. They rely almost entirely on the talking points they get from their corporate masters via the right-wing media. Since conservatives today rely almost entirely on the right-wing media (esp. Fox News) for their information, they get nothing but the talking points and completely ignore the real news (which they mistakenly think is entirely leftist, even though it's not). Let's be honest with what's going on right now: our economy continues to suffer because of how badly GW Bush messed it up with his irresponsible tax cuts for the wealthy coupled with two wars: one that was ill-planned (Afghanistan) and one that should never have been fought (Iraq). And while Obama can into office with very good ideas, they ultimately suffer because (a) Obama is more of a centrist than most progressives would like, and (b) more importantly, he's been the victim of Republican obstructionism (with the aid of a handful of conservative "Democrats" who, frankly, need to stop calling themselves Democrats). If the Teabaggers get their way, things will only get worse. | |
| We the people...We the people...We the people...We the people...We the people... The people...The people...The people... The conservatives are starting to sound like a socialist rally. You and I may know your little fable is not a true story, but if you so some web searching you will find plenty of your comrades you seem to be reading and repeating it as if it were a true story. But that seems to be the way of the teabaggers ? pass off simplified half truths and distortions as if they were real but it really doesn't matter if anyone calls you out on it because the gullible audience you are trying to whip up won't know the difference anyway. I think you grossly underestimate the ratio of conservatives ? I'd say it's closer to 9 conservatives to 1 liberal. And that's why the country is in such a mess. You demand that 545 lie to you: if they talk serious about meeting your obligations from the war you were all gung-ho about or the prisons you want to throw everyone in there's no way you would vote for him, or if he's already elected you'll recall him. Gore comes to the debate boasting facts, figures and plans, and Bush boasts he doesn't need those things. And you ate it up. When it comes down to the professional or the simpleton, you pick the simpleton because that's who you identify with. You rant about entitlements, but you are the entitled: you are entitled to better better roads, better police, better firefighters, better schools, better parks, better everything, all on lower taxes. You talk about government waste, but where to cut? When the military wants to close a base it doesn't need, you send your share of the 545 to stop it. It's always someone else who as to suffer the pain. You take government unemployment handouts and enter government funded retraining programs ?because the liberals moved your job to China?. Your needs are entitlements, everyone else's needs are government waste. What has the recent economic downturn shown us: that you the people run your finances no better than the 545. You the people live paycheck to paycheck, beyond your means, rack up huge debt and save nothing. You scoff at the incompetence of the politicians as if you never borrowed, always made difficult choices, focused on what was important and always planned for the future. If you the people did collect and spend taxes, determine fiscal policy, manage foreign affairs you'd do just as crappy a job as the 545. The 545 is you. | |
| It's also very clear that many of these conservatives - and the Teabaggers even more so - have little or no knowledge of the Constitution they claim to "defend." Their biggest misunderstanding, I've observed, is with the First Amendment. We have one Teabagger in Delaware stating that separation of church and state is not in the Constitution, but it is - in the First Amendment. It states clearly that Americans have a freedom of religion - and a freedom FROM religion. The right just doesn't get it. We have another Teabagger in Alaska arresting a journalist who was trying to do his job. Freedom of the press, like religion, is guaranteed by that same First Amendment. Teabaggers: a clear and present danger to America. |
